Completed Projects

The 2007 Conceptual Plan, called Seawinds Apartment for HSI, will provide fifty units of housing for low-income individuals and families, including those who were formerly homeless.  Twenty units are studio apartments intended for short-term transitional housing, and thirty units are two-bedroom apartments, intended for longer-term housing.

The work includes the construction of a new enclosed corridor, approximately 2,000 linear feet, along the third level of the Ewa Concourse, Ewa Connecting Link and Overseas Terminal.  Foreign arrival passengers are now able to walk from their arrival gates to Customs within a fully air-conditioned structure.  To assist in their commute, three (3) moving walkways have also been installed.

The new hospital facility, consisting of three buildings totaling 150,000 sqft, is approximately 40% larger than the original hospital built in 1967.  The main hospital building includes a basement level plus two stories above ground.

The Animal Encounter Discovery Center at the Honolulu Zoo quadrupled the size of the Keiki Zoo and has many one-of-a-kind exhibits.  The 1.5 acre site was cleared and utility infrastructure was installed.  The project included one-of-a-kind fiberglass koi tank with crawl-thru log and pop-up, interactive water wheel, goat interactive display, guinea pig display, and goose pond.  A new entry building, story-telling garden, chicken, horse, cow, and llama sheds were design and constructed with an old-Hawaiian style theme.

The project consists of a 2-story building with 15,800 square feet of interior space.  Originally designed as a 3-story building, initial pricing was in excess of the funding available.  Revised plans eliminated the third floor, as well as other reductions in scope.  Numerous contributions, including donated construction materials, were received in order to make the project a reality.
